What strategies a teacher can use in the classroom to motivate students?

Student motivation is most important factor which helps the teacher to improve the students learning efficiency and interest out of class as well as classroom.
Here we discuss some important points which are most important for student motivation.

Make Role Models:-

Mostly students are like some role models in their life, so if students can identify with role models they may be more likely to see the relevance in the subject matter. For example “weins et al” found that female students were more likely to cite a positive influence with teacher as a factor becoming interested in science in some cases you can be a model but it’s unlikely that you will contact on that level with everyone in the class due to difference in gender, age and social circles.

Student’s Choices-:

Choices provide easier way to improve learning process to student. They can have increased motivation when they feel some sense of autonomy in the learning process, and that motivation declines when students have no voice in class room structure. A teacher should give an option it can be as simple as letting them pick their lab partners or select from alternative assignments, or as complex as contract teacher wherein students can determine their own grading.

Making Belonging sense:-

Students naturally required that they should have a higher degree of intrinsic motivation and academic confidences. In this example we see that people have a fundamental need to feel connected or related to other people. In an academic environment, research shows that students who feels they belong have a higher degree of intrinsic motivation and academic confidence. According to students their sense of belonging is fostered by an instructor that demonstrates warmth and openness, encourages students participation, is friendly and helpful in classroom.

Creating Activities:-

Activities are most reliable method for student learning process. In order to foster intrinsic motivation level, try to create learning activities that are based on the topics that are relevant to your students life. Strategies includes using local example and teaching with events in the news using pop culture technology.

Supportive Style:-

Supporting teaching style is very effective and increase the students learning process very efficiently in classroom. It can foster student interest, engagement and performance. This method of teaching also include listening , giving hints and encouragement of students. Here we discus some examples for sporting teaching methods.

Ø   Making a statement that the student should must, have to, something, such as, you should keep doing that.

Ø   Communicating with empathic statements to acknowledge to student’s hints, such as laying the map on the table seems to work better than holding it in your lap, it high be easier to work batter then holding.

Ø   Listening carefully and fully attended to students speech, as evidenced by verbal or non verbal signals of active.

Ø   Using explanatory statement as to why a particular course or action might be useful such as how ab out we try the club, because it is easiest one.

Ø   Giving the solution or answer before the students had the opportunity to discover he solution themselves.

Ø   Using praise as contingent reward to show approval of the students or the student’s compliance with the teacher’s directions. Such as “you are smart” or “ you are really good played”

Ø   Asking what students want such as “which problem do you want to start with?

Ø   Being responsive to student generated question, such as “you have a good point”

Balance the challenge:-

Teacher should maintain and turned the children difficulties in to easier way. Student’s performance best when the level of difficulties is slightly above their current level. If the task is too easy, it promotes boredom and may communicate a massage of low expectations or a sense that a teacher believes the student is not capable of better work. A task that is too difficult may be seen as unattainable may undermine self efficiency, and may create anxiety. Teacher should maintain the student’s challenges level, he should take the students mix tasks like if he give some one difficult task to students in classroom then he also should some easy tasks to students, because all students have no same capability to complete their all tasks as they complete their easy tasks.

Using Peer Models:-

Peer method of teaching is not a new concept. In this method students can learn by watching a peer succeed at a task. In this context, a peers may be drawn from groups a defend by gender ethnicity, social circles, interest and achievement. Some important characteristics of peer models of study are as under.

Ø   Peer teaching is a financially efficient alternative to hiring more staff members. It is ultimately best for students, because teacher can pay their more attention to the students separately.

Ø Students feel more comfortable and open when interacting with a peer .

Ø   Peers and students share a similar discourse, allowing for greater understanding.

Ø   Direct interaction between student’s promotion with the teacher and active learning.
